My Awesome Mixtape

Gordon: MAM is dance music (among other things), what are your favourite styles of dancing/dance moves?

Maolo: In reality we aren't so much into dance music world; infact I consider myself ignorant and not so well confident in talking about dance music. Our musical preferences are more tied to black music over all; from hip hop to soul music from reggae to r'n'b, jazz and blues...

Gordon: Do you write your music collectively? Sit around a laptop with your instruments or are there individual efforts later pieced together to an album?

Maolo: Apart from our first album "My Lonely and Sad Waterloo", all the other albums ("How Could A Village Turn Into A Town" overall) were made collectively and musically arranged all together.

Gordon: When you make an album track, do you consider how it will be played, meaning, do you think about what a DJ will do with it?

Maolo: I think that all comes naturally, following our feelings, we don't really care initially how a DJ could remix one of our songs.

Gordon: You obviously like remixes, are you getting any interesting requests from other bands/artists to do remixes?

Maolo: Yeah of course, we would really love to hear dub step remixes of some of "how could a village turn into a town" song.

Gordon: How important is humour/comedy in your music? Do you like any funny music/performance styles in other artists?

Maolo: I think that humour constitutes half of our lives, so it's very important to point it it out in our lyrics! There are so many artist I'd like to mention. The Kanye West bear mask was really funny.

Grazie Maolo!
